Do They Think Women Are Morons?

So one-term Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is McCain's Veep choice. Apparently they are going after disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters, but choosing a rabid anti-choice Neo-Con is an odd way to go about it. Do they really think Hillary supporters are such morons that they'd prefer a candidate who opposes everything they believe in, simply because she happens not to have a dick?

Well, apparently.

And do they really think that they can get any more traction questioning Obama's readiness to govern the country when they plan on placing a person a heartbeat away from the Presidency who's entire government experience consists of two years as governor of Alaska (Alaska, for crying out loud!) and being a one-term mayor of a town of 7,400 people?

I'll hand it to John McCain- he couldn't have hurt his campaign any more, or insulted American women more, if he'd worked at it for a month. But wait, come to think of it, he did work at it for a month.

That sure makes me feel better.

Geez.

UPDATE: So, I've just cruised a few Republican pundit blogs, and of course they're trying to put the best face they can on this. A few admit that it destroys McCain's main argument against Obama, the "unqualified" thing, but most are doing some really ingenious contortions to twist it around. See how these sound to you-

-several argue that she has more "executive experience" than either Obama or Biden, because she's been governor of Alaska for 18 months. So ok, fine. But does being governor of Alaska for a few months qualify you to take over running the United States?

-one especially imaginative fellow is suggesting that she has more foreign policy experience than Obama and Biden, because her state borders Canada and Russia. I can't wait to see how that argument flies in the debates.

I am totally flubbergusted. Wow.

Talk about lack of experience. With this woman on the tichet, everytime McCain talks about experience, he's going to have to have to add, "don't worry. I won't die in office." (He'll just get more senile instead.)

But hey, she also sat on the oil and gas commission. And she wants to open up ANWR for drilling. Repubs do like them some oil!

It's entirely possible he's already gone senile. Talk about throwing away an election.

Wow.

She doesn't have cankles so why do they think they'll get the HillDog voters?

Here we go again. This year's Dan Quayle. Of course, he got elected but do you think the voters are going to make the same mistake twice? Oh, I forgot. W got elected twice.

C.Rag- right, no cankles either. Totally unqualified.

Catalyst- well, yes and no.

I just wanted to say that Maukie is THE cutest cursor tracker I've ever seen!!

So life like!! Maukie can look in all directions, Maukie's eyes are my favourite colour: green and the cat reached out for my cursor EVERYTIME I strayed into it's territory!
Where'd you find him?

...and reading is one of my hobbies, so it's nice to know you're a bookseller :-)

I went through all the 'Book Geek' questions too.

Malach: He should have picked Michael Palin. Id even have voted for him for Presidick.

Indrani: First welcome to MMB, and thanks for coming by! You have to ask the hard questions- I am sure I got Maukie from the Google widget page, but I don't remember from exactly where. But he/she is certainly a Google widget. I love Maukie too, he/she is just like our cat Freckles.

I just love it. Nothing says incompetent Republican decision maker like a 5000 year old John McCain, guaranteed to drop dead in office, picking a fucking soccer mom for his VP.

I will only be more thrilled when someone publishes the nude pictures of her that you know exist.

She's a bit of a looker- I can't wait. She WAS Miss Alaska runner-up a few years ago...

Do They Think Women Are Morons?

is this a trick question?

Alaska is how far he had to go to find someone who didn't have BAGGAGE with a capital B and wasn't about to be indicted in the next term.

Mike, correction it's not soccer mom. It's hockey mom. Doesn't that make her Canadian?

I am just laughing all the way to the bank. Well not the bank..I have no money because of course the economy is so fucking wonderful right now if you ask McCain. But I a laughing all the way to somewhere...like my election booth.

P.S. Maybe because of McCains pick, we should reconsider adding him back onto the holiday card list?

here today, gone tomorrow said...

I'm sorry to tell you that I've already heard of one woman - a Hillary supporter - who has announced her intention to vote for McCain instead of Obama simply because of the female VP.

So, yes, even tho' I am one, I have to admit that once in a very great while women are morons.

Now for something completely different....
My overly educated, very liberal, and closet feminist wife is actually happy with Palin and plans on voting for McCain. My wife had been supporting Hillary ever since she cried up in New Hampshire and played off Obama's lack of experience. When I brought up Palin's complete lack of foreign policy experience and having less time in public office than Obama her eyes glazed over and I think she started singing "I am woman, hear me roar..."
