This is Getting Fun-

Things are really starting to get fun on the Democratic side of the Presidential race. I assume that most of you following the campaign have by now heard about Hillary Clinton's new "3 a.m." ad- it asks who you'd want to have answering the telephone at the White House at 3 a.m. when a world crisis erupts- and pictures a couple of sleeping kids ("it's 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep, but at the White House, the phone is ringing...").

It's a pretty scary ad, and people are comparing it to the famous "Daiosy" ad run briefly by Lyndon Johnson in 1968 when he was running against Barry Goldwater-

So here's Hillary's new ad-

But the Obama campaign has shot back just a day later with this-

I think this round goes to Obama. It's good to see a campaign that can think quickly and come up with good responses without missing a beat.

When it's three am, don't you want a guy who was tortured by the VietCong for 5 years in the White House?

I can see it now.

Now THERE'S a scary thought...

When I saw that Obama ad, I practically jumped out of my chair and did a victory dance.

Stuff like this is the reason I don't worry over much about Obama not being able to stand up to the Republicans. He's good. And his fighting style is very Aikido-like. He just gracefully turns his opponents force to his advantage.

Phoebe: yes, I am becoming very impressed with how well his campaign works.

I'm really starting to like Obama, in all seriousness. This is the first time I'm going to be able to vote in a presidential race, and it's really exciting to me. It's been really confusing and hard to weigh my options, but at this rate, Obama is going to get my vote.

I told Phoebe on her blog earlier that I am going to just hide in the closet until election day, as I already voted in my primary and there is not a damn thing I can do in the mean time but what for the dust to settle. It is to frustrating, annoying, scary, and it gives me heart burn. Just pull me out on voting day so I can push the button.

is this gonna be another case of the gingham dog and the calico cat, where all we are left with is stuffing?

I remember that first ad and I remember it being a very scary time but nothing scares me more than the thought of Hillary in the White House at 3:00 AM.

Or any other time of the day for that matter.

SC: First Presidential vote, and it's in this race? Lucky, lucky woman! I've been doing it for a while, and I've really had to hold my nose when voting for many of them.

MI: We will send a car.

Gods: A frightening thought. We'll find out in a few days...

Mike: Yes, no more Clintons OR Bush's in the White House, except as members of the guided tour.

When it's 3am in the White House, it's 7pm here at my place. Why don't they just divert the calls and let The Reverend handle it.

You couldn't do worse than having Hillary answer it.

So what is Bush doing at 3 a.m.?

Forrest Proper said...

Reverend: I dunno- having McCain answer it would be really brutal. You guys in Australia could probably see the glow from the mushroom cloud if you looked north-west.

C.Rag: Dreaming of doing it with Condi while pushing the button to nuke Iran.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how eight years as First Lady ever prepared her for shit, except for knowing which fork to pick up at a state dinner or which baby to kiss. Like the Obama counter ad pointed out she has screwed up once already by giving the Bushy a blank check on Iraq.
