There Was a Young Lady from Harvard...

The Reverend and Catalyst have both been posting interesting old signs over the last few days, so I thought I'd put this one up. I bought it at a book fair a few years ago, and the moment I saw it I knew I had to have it. We actually lived just a few blocks from Harvard at the time, and kept it on the wall in the living room. Now it sits on a bookshelf in my office. I've no idea when it was printed, but my guess would be the 1920s.

So remember- Don't be dirty! Don't be dirty! Don't be dirty!

I always knew that there was a lot of filth at Harvard.

Thank goodness a weeks only 7 days!

Mike- I know, and even with all those officers to make them clean, too.

Joey- Hahvahders can pack a lot of smut into 7 days... It was after all, ex-Harvarder Tom Leher who wrote the song-

SMUT!
Give me smut and nothing but;
a dirty novel I can't shut,
if it's uncut,
and un-subt-le.

I never quibbled,
if it was ribald!
I would devour,
what others merely nibbled-

Who needs a hobby-
like tennis or philately?
I've got a hobby-
re-reading Lady Chatterly!
When correctly viewed,
everything is lewd!
I could tell you things
about Peter Pan,
(or the Wizard of Oz-
There's a DIRTY OLD MAN!)

and so on...

"Help the officers to keep you clean" ? Some kind of communal soaping and showering perhaps ?

Cissy- I was hoping somebody would pick up on that phrase. You do have to wonder exactly what sort of "cleaning" the officers were giving.

Obviously they never had any of those signs at Yale, where the Presidink matriculated. (and other things I can't mention.)

Catalyst- I understand all those Skull and Bones guys matriculate with each other. Gross.

Gods- I'm there!

Joey- ok, if I understand the sign correctly, there's a lot of VD out there, but that woman will keep me safe from it? Gee, this medical-prevention stuff is apt to be a lot more fun than I was led to believe...
