We had a small artificial tree on a fairly high shelf last year. But one of our 2-1/2 cats kept knocking the ornaments off in the middle of the night and tossing them around the house. When she finally knocked the tree over, Judy said "that's enough" and put it away. She says she will not put it up this year. Hmmm, maybe we can decorate our cats instead!
Back in our Cambridge condo the bathroom was at the back end of the unit and our bedroom was at the front. The cats would make a game of pulling ornaments off the tree, playing with them for a while, then leaving them on the floor. You have never felt the Real Spirit of Christmas until you have stepped on a glass ornament with your bare foot at 3 in the morning in the dark.

mike- yes, our cats look very festive- the only problem is holding them still long enough to tape the tinsel on.
