Well, that was quick...

Barack, Barack, what are you thinking? You are picking neo-Facist televangelist Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at your inauguration?

This is the same man who campaigned in favor of California's recent ban on equal rights for its all citizens (Prop 8, the gay marriage ban), does not believe in evolution, has compared abortion to the Holocaust and advocated the assassination of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The guy is a hate-spewing, simple-minded fruit-loop, and certainly unfit to be anywhere near the White House. This is one decision you will have to re-think.

You know what? I GET this. Obama has said, more than once, that he wants to find common ground with the people who disagree with him. He's making a genuine, good-faith effort to live up to that rhetoric.

The thing is, though? It's not going to get him anything. My experience with the crazies on the fringe is that they tend to have a "my way or the highway" attitude. Crazies don't understand agreeable disagreement, nor do they understand compromise (ask me how I know - I'm dealing with something like this in my real life right now, and it's making me fucking crazy).

I'm not saying that I think it's a good idea to invite this guy to participate in a process that he would likely try to sabotage at any opportunity, but I do understand the President-Elect's intention. He's trying to reach out; I just hope he doesn't get his hand bitten off...

"OHMYGODTHANKTHELORDBARACKWON...

...people starting to backtrack on stuff he's doing and he's not even in office yet.

I'll just sit back and watch. Should be interesting.

I know several of these so called "moderate" evangelicals. If Obama searches for common ground with them beyond nice words they will cut his throat and praise the Lord while doing it.

Why do we allow any religion anywhere near the inauguration? Isn't it time that americans grew up and stopped believing in fairies?
