Brilliant

The news story about the Veteran's Administration losing the personal records of 26 million vets on a stolen laptop computer has been all over the news for two days now. This sort of thing seems to happen more and more these days, which brings up the question- why do they allow any of this data to be put on laptops in the first place? But that isn't my point this morning. I just heard yet another story about the theft on NPR. The reporter was interviewing an official from the VA, and the official commented that since the laptop was stolen in what appears to have been a simple housebreak, and the thieves do not appear to have been after the laptop specifically, that it was probable that "they don't even know what they have".

uh...

well, unless they live under a rock, they do now!

Apparently they aren't the brightest bulbs over there at the VA...

Even Audrey Tautou is shocked.

And since it was Veteran's information on the laptop, it's not like Bush or Cheney or the other Administration bigwigs have to worry about their personal data having been stolen...
